Ocean House
Ocean House, located on the iconic Ocean Drive in Miami Beach, was originally built in 1946 as the former Walburne Hotel. The Walburne was a typical example of Miami Modern Architecture that was influenced by the Art Deco and Streamline Modern period. As a registered historic landmark, our intervention was part preservation and part reinvention.
Tasked with creating a mansion on the beach, the touch points and programming that define a grand home was the generator of the design. The re-design of the existing staircase into the quintessential Grand Staircase is a welcoming touch to homeowners as they are ushered through.
The reception desk was intentionally hidden from view to allow for a private arrival experience. As with any grand palace, one is greeted by a butler that attends to the whims and needs of the residents.
idyllic by design and luxurious by conception, Ocean House sits quietly on the strip ready for her next evolution as a luxury condominium.
